"It's all hills and rocks"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHARLIE!!!!!!

Hey! We are now in Athens. We arrived yesterday afternoon after a long trip here (we had to get up at 3:30 am) so our first day was spent just taking it easy and seeing what we would do our next 2 days. We are staying in a GREAT location with a view of the Acropolus. Yesterday, we walked around Athens, ate at a cute little cafe that was located right at the bottom of the Acropolis and in front of a Roman Bath. Yesterday was realllly hot so we took a pretty long nap and then headed out in the evening to see some more of Athens. We got a really good dinner at a nice restaurant which was down a little alley and was situation right on top the location where Alexander the Great gave a speech. Pretty groove huh? (Clueless reference, catch that one?) The food here is amazing. Katie and I have pretty much been eating Greek salads with extra cucumbers for every meal! It is soo delish!

Today, we all got up early and walked down to the National History Museum, which is supposed to be one of the top 10 museums in the world. It was pretty neat, but there was so much to see that it was a bit overwhelming for Katie and I. Katie is still adjusting from travelling so this morning was really tough for her. After the musuem we walked over to the Agora. We all LOVED this sight. The agora was the social and political center of ancient Greece. We spent all afternoon walking around this sight. We also saw the only temple that is actaully still fully standing! That was really neat! It looked almost fake since everything else that we have seen has been more like ruins as opposed to actually being completely in tact. Seeing the temple really helped to show what the agora would have looked like.
Side Note: When we were at the Agora, we were walking up the hill to see the temple and Katie freaked out screaming and running because there was snake coming out of the bushes. Tara and I were like whatever and kept walking. Katie insisted that she saw a HUGE green and yellow snake. About 5 minutes later a LITTLE turtle climbed out from the bushes...we documented it. Give it a look below.
After the agora, it was really hot out, so we ate a delish lunch (cucumber salad for me, fruit bowl for katie, and stuffed tomato for tara- the food is SOO GOOD!!!) and then we went in for siesta!! Have I mentioned how much I love sieta!!! Katie loves siesta too. I loved siesta more when Katie wasnt here harassing me while I try to sleep :) hahahaha Anyways, We are now at the internet cafe and then are heading to dinner and tonight we are seeing Mama Mia, how appropriate!!! Tomorrow we are going to the Acropolis and then later in the evening we are headed to Santorini to soak up the sun and relax on the Mediterranean.

Side Note #2: When Katie called my mom to tell her all about Athens all she had to say was "its all hills and rocks." Deep Katie, real deep.

Love you all!!!

P.S. We will post pictures as soon as we get a chance.
