Now for my update on Cinque Terre. On Friday Tara and I took the train from Milan to Vernazza, which is one of the Cinque Terre towns. Our place was perfect. We had two bedrooms and two bathrooms with an amazing view of the piazza and the waterfront. Tara and I ate lunch at a cute little café in the piazza and then just wandered around the town. The town is really small-like one small street-so there was very little to do but lots to observe. Lunch was hysterical. The main thing to do when you visit Cinque Terre is to hike all 5 towns and being that there were ALOT of tourist, sitting at lunch Tara and I could not stop laughing at what some of the people were wearing. I mean it was pretty hot outside and really humid and people were dressed in the most ridiculous hiking outfits. Outfits fit more for climbing the Rockies in winter, not some hill in July on the water. We ended up staying at the table long after we finished out lunch and watched people pass by and took the occasional picture of the really unbelievable people.
Later that day Christina, Lauren and Noelle met us in Vernazza. Cinque Terre is well-known for pesto and fish so the girls ate fish for dinner and I got pesto. It was delish!!! I also had a glass of white wine to celebrate 4th of July!!!
That night was pretty awesome, like I said we had an amazing view of the piazza and the water. Since, it was a Friday the piazza was busy with people which was really neat to watch from out window. At around 10:00pm a band formed in the piazza and people danced and sang along (to classical American songs) until around 4 in the morning. It was pretty awesome experience until around 1:00 when I wanted to fall asleep!!! Nonetheless, it is something I will never forget. It was something out a movie.
The next day we al got up early and head out for our hike. Without going into too much detail the hike was 7 miles, 5 hours, and 90% was uphill stairs. Needless to say, it was AMAZING but tiring. After the hike, I napped, I ate, and I finished the Kite Runner-the best book ever!!!!
